SCOTTSDALE, Ariz., March 14, 2014 – Academy Roofing, a successful commercial roofing company from Boston, has launched their Arizona operation and has become a leading community member of The Care Fund. Fran Gibson, Founder and President of Academy Roofing has joined the Care Fund Board of Directors, believing in its mission to grant Arizona families mortgage or rent when their child has an extended illness or injury.
One of the cornerstone events for The Care Fund will be the newly created annual “Care Fund Caddyshack Golf Classic!” on Saturday, May 12 at McCormick Ranch Golf Club. It’s a scramble format event designed for fundraising and fun. Golfers are encouraged to “Get their Caddyshack On!” and compete for prizes for most creative and inspiring golf attire. The first year tournament is expected to sell out based on brisk foursome donations. There will also be a “Celebrity Auction,” whereby celebrities are auctioned off to golf with the highest bidding foursomes and announced the morning of the event.
Academy Roofing has announced that it will become the Title Sponsor for the Tournament. “Our company has always believed in community and giving back. The Care Fund is the right mission for our company – what better gift can you give than helping families stay in their homes, while the parents care for their sick child,” states owner, Fran Gibson. To date, other corporate sponsors include DMB’s Eastmark, a master planned community.
The Care Fund launched January 2013, to help families with a critically ill child pay their home mortgage or rent when medical expenses severely limit their ability to meet their monthly housing obligations. In just 8 months of fundraising, almost $600,000 was raised, close to its stated goal of $1 million.
Fundraising initiatives for 2014 include transactional giving, matching grants from community funds and signature events including a Celebrity Poker Tournament, Caddyshack Golf Tournament and Celebrity Toast. The Care Fund is named to numerous third party events as their community beneficiary, as well as United Way.
